Choosing the right photographer for your family or wedding is an important decision. Of course, you want to make sure you choose someone who will capture all of those special moments for you. But how can you be sure?
One of the best I know is Leigh Castelli Photo. Don’t forget to check them out.
There are 5 things that any serious photographer should do before taking on a client, and we’ve listed them below!
Number #1: The first one is that they should ensure you are who they want to work with. If the photographer only takes on high-end clients, then don’t expect them to take you on.
They will be taking away time and attention from their regulars by including you in their schedule.
Number #2: The second thing is that a good photographer makes sure your photoshoot goes well! Last week, I was at a wedding where the bride had hired her cousin’s friend as her photographer because he offered up his services for free (in return, she would put out some photos of him).
She ended up regretting it, though when during her ceremony, instead of looking through the lens to capture all those beautiful moments, he spent most of his time checking himself out in the shots!
On top of this, he didn’t tell the bridesmaids where to stand, and as a result, there were no shots of them together.
Number #3: The third thing is that they are always on time! Photographers should never be late for any shoot, whether you have paid them or not.
It’s disrespectful of your time, their clients’ time, and everyone else who has been waiting around at the location with you – especially if it was somewhere hard to get to, like an airport or military base!
A professional photographer will also bring everything he needs for both indoor and outdoor shoots so that nothing will interrupt him once he starts shooting.
When I plan out my schedule each day before going to work, I always ensure all my appointments are within 30 minutes of one another in case something happens.
Number #4: The fourth thing is that they should ensure you are looking your best! A photographer will always try to get the very best shot of their client that he can, so having them change into different outfits or doing something with their hair shouldn’t be too much trouble for him.
After all, photographers want people to remember how good they looked on film and not what was hanging in the wardrobe at home!
Number #5: The fifth thing is making sure you like how everything goes before paying them anything. If a wedding photographer asks for 50% down before the big day even starts, there’s no reason why any individual wouldn’t ask exactly what they’re getting first instead of just blindly handing over cash.
The last thing anyone wants is a photographer to take on a wedding and then cancel at the last minute, leaving them with no one!
Bottom Line:
In conclusion, before hiring a photographer, you should always be sure that they are skilled, reliable, and responsible. It is also essential to ensure that your personalities will mesh well too! If the wedding or family photoshoot goes badly, it could reflect poorly on both of you.
